WHAT’S ON YOUR WEBSITE?
In today’s digital world, it is expected that every business should have an online presence. And while that easy to say, it is a lot harder to keep up with the work a website entails! When we surveyed our members earlier this year, we saw that in the past three years they are selling (and buying) more on-line than ever before.
Even the sparest store website will cover the basics: location, phone number, hours and contact information. And then the fun starts! Add a shopping cart and a full e-commerce site becomes reality. But how do you decide how much inventory to put on your site? Do you take the product photos or does the maker provide them for you? How do you make sure your site inventory is up to date with your store inventory? What information must accompany very product on your site?
These are the very basic concerns that need to be determined before you begin. Then there is the challenge of driving traffic to your site to make sales and justify all your hard work! Do you need to understand SEO, key words, and digital ads? Do your local customers use your website or are most of your web customers from out of town? Can you hold a special event on your website? Or should you offer sales and special promotions? How does your social media enhance your website?
These and many other aspects of selling online will be the topic of our next Zoom with CRAFT. Stay tuned for more information, and if you have a store website experience you want to share, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
